Mission Statement

"To inspire the South Australian Community to restore, preserve and improve the total environment through active participation in dynamic programs."

Objectives

 The objectives of KESAB are :

  1. To implement programs that preserve, improve and restore the entire South Australian environment.

  2. To provide information, support, and resources to the South Australian community encouraging best environmental practises.

  3. To research and implement strategies to transform community behaviour in the environment.

  4. To undertake research and monitor community impacts on the environment.

  5. To recommend and influence legislation and regulations that improve and protect the environment.

  6. To assist, co-operate and liaise with other organisations, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Since 1966 KESAB programs have expanded to include:

  • Tidy Towns   South Australia's leading environmental awards program that focuses on achievements at a community level. Click here for 2008 Tidy Towns results.
  • Road Watch  Encouraging community participation in roadside environmental care. Download the latest Road Watch Newsletter
  • Wipe Out Waste  Supporting a whole school community approach to waste reduction.
  • Waste, Recycling and Litter Education  For schools, community groups and businesses.
  • Waterwatch  Catchment education and water quality monitoring.
  • Clean Site  Preventing pollution from building and construction sites and recovering resources.
  • Clean Marine  Litter-free fishing to protect our marine environment.
  • Cigarette Butt Litter  Education for correct disposal of cigarette butts to prevent damage to the environment. 

Illegal Dumping, Graffiti Management, Litter Counts and Social Research are also part of KESAB's commitment to the environment.
