Australian Sustainable Cities Awards 2010

The Australian Sustainable Cities awards encourage, motivate and celebrate the local sustainability achievements of urban communities across Australia, with all Australian states and territories taking part.

The program will be officially launched in South Australia in July 2010 and will enable metropolitan communities to be recognised for sustainable practices, and to provide a method of assessment for their community and environmental impact.

Eligibility for participation in the Sustainable Cities program is defined as the area within the metropolitan boundary. This program will use the metropolitan boundary as defined by the South Australian Government Regions, which is based upon Local Government (Council) Areas.

 Categories and Criteria

There are six assessment categories in the KESAB Sustainable Cities Program;

        • community engagement
        • waste
        • water conservation
        • education & innovation
        • biodiversity conservation
        • energy

All entrants must address the Community Engagement category and a minimum of 2 other categories. However to be considered for the National Sustainable Cities Awards you must enter all categories. Actions, projects or initiatives that cover multiple categories are eligible for entry.
