What’s new…

New image for KESAB Clean Site program

KESAB recently reviewed the Clean Site program’s educational resources through a consultation process with the program’s partners and stakeholders.

Besides a new and revised suite of educational materials, soon to be officially launched, the program also had a ‘face lift’ with a new logo developed by Effect Media.

The logo is a stylised approach to a host of activities that are undertaken within a construction site. It is a modern depiction of keeping a building site clean and tidy in order to maintain a healthy environment.

Adelaide Desalination KESAB Clean Site Program

SA Water and KESAB have formed a partnership with contract partners for the Adelaide Desalination Project through the Clean Site Program.

Contract partners include Adelaide Aqua, McConnell Dowell - Built Environs Joint Venture and ETSA Utilities.

The aim of the Clean Site partnership is to prevent pollution on construction sites, educate construction crews and seek to achieve environmental best practice.

The partnership compliments key environmental commitments made through the project’s Environmental Impact Statement.

Key initiatives include:

·         Regular Clean Site Environmental Toolbox presentations delivered to construction crews.

·         Placing environmental signs/banners throughout the site.

·         Continuous improvement regarding waste reduction with a focus on maximising recycling efforts.

·         Monthly reporting and advertising of recycling performance for the project.

·         Creating worker incentives to encourage participation and implementation of Clean Site initiatives.

·         Investigating the use of local innovative products to assist with on site environmental measures.

Recognising community commitment at Lochiel Park

The Land Management Corporation's (LMC) sustainable village development, Lochiel Park was the recent venue for KESAB and the LMC to recognise community participation in keeping the area free from litter.

With LMC continuing to be a partner in KESAB’s Clean Site program, a recent meeting onsite to monitor construction company compliance with waste and litter control, two community members who are regularly collecting wind blown litter and bottles and cans were identified for recognition.

KESAB’s Clean Site program coordinator recently presented resident, Willie Smyth with a certificate of appreciation for his ongoing engagement with building contractors and collection of litter throughout the development.

Young resident William Butler was also recognised for his efforts in helping to keep Lochiel Park free from bottles and cans.

The LMC Sustainablity Centre is a feature within the development of ways for residents to reduce their impact on the environment through energy and water reduction methods together with a host of displays to assist residents in living sustainably.

KESAB’s Clean Site program display is a feature within the centre and supports general industry environmental training sessions conducted onsite.

Demonstration Site Education

An extension of Clean Site training is to work with the building and construction industry to provide practical and hands on examples of environmental best practise.

One element is to set up demonstration construction sites and implement model Clean Site initiatives wherein best practise will be adopted through the full building cycle. Numerous sites are planned around metropolitan Adelaide.

Latest success has been the recent Clean Site demo day launch held at Blackwood Park Estate, Coromandel Valley hosted by KESAB, the City of Mitcham and developers, Adelaide Development Company.
